GE Jenbacher Awarded Its First Contract in Romania

ORLANDO, FLORIDA (November 30, 2004) — GE Jenbacher, a division of GE Energy, has received its first order in Romania for two cogeneration systems that will be used by a Bucharest pharmaceuticals firm to generate power and heat.

The Romanian Industrial Energy Efficiency Co. (RIEEC), a specialist in the financing, turnkey construction, and operation of energy-efficiency projects in Romania, purchased the two Jenbacher JMC 312 GS-N.LC cogeneration units on behalf of Sicomed S.A., a manufacturer of generic drugs.

Sicomed will utilize the electricity generated by the engines at its facility, as on-site power is cost effective and reliable. Heat from the Jenbacher systems will be used in the production process and for building heating.

"With this first installation, GE Jenbacher will be able to demonstrate our product's effectiveness for Romanian customers," said Barry Glickman, General Manager of GE Jenbacher. "We are already seeing strong interest in gas-engine cogeneration in Romania, and expect the Sicomed plant to be the first of many similar installations in Romania."

For the power plant, GE Jenbacher is providing two containerized cogeneration units, along with the cooling, silencer and exhaust systems. Romanian contractor Tofan Servicii Energetice and RIEEC are installing the complete systems.

The cogeneration systems are to be shipped and installed in December 2004, and scheduled to begin commercial operation in February 2005.
