GE Offers New Software for Fleet-Wide Dispatch

ORLANDO, FLORIDA (November 30, 2004) — GE Energy today announced the latest release of its patented, proprietary GenGauge® Fleet-Wide Dispatch Management software at Power-Gen International 2004 in Orlando, Fla. With this new version, the software can now be applied to power plants fired by gas and oil, as well as coal.

The key to making better dispatch decisions is the ability to accurately obtain real-time and project data about unit heat rate, fuel, and emissions. The GenGauge platform provides timely information to electrical utility plant operators so they can improve asset utilization and reduce generation costs leading to increased profits.

Additionally, the new version provides the framework for two modules under development: real-time incremental NOx cost, and day-ahead curves. These new modules will take even more of the guesswork out of dispatch decision-making, provide a more accurate view of emission costs, and produce the curves required for bidding into ISO or other competitive power markets. The modules are planned for release in early 2005.

"These changes make the GenGauge software platform a powerful tool for operators wishing to stay competitive in today's dynamic power markets," said Ricardo Artigas, president of energy services for GE Energy. "One GenGauge software user estimates that their system is saving them $1,000 for every hour that dispatching is performed, resulting in millions in incremental profits annually."
