Combined Cycle

Steam And Gas (STAG)

Today's global energy market places many demands on power generation technology including high thermal efficiency, low cost, rapid installation, reliability, environmental compliance and operation flexibility.
GE's Steam And Gas (STAG) combined cycle power generation equipment has met these demands and surpassed them, taking power plant performance to unprecedented levels.

The development of steam and gas turbine combined cycles has paralleled gas turbine development, resulting in reliable combined cycle plants. Those incorporating GE's advanced gas turbine technology have achieved efficiency levels approaching 58 percent, due primarily to the higher firing temperatures of advanced technology gas turbines. The MS9001H gas turbine will achieve 60 percent efficiency in combined cycle application when it goes into full operation.

In addition to advances in gas turbine technology, steam turbine performance also has evolved. GE's STAG combined-cycle power generation product line includes steam cycle options that satisfy a wide range of economic considerations including fuel flexibility, fuel cost, duty cycle and space limitations.

Advantages

The GE advanced technology combined cycles promise improved economics of electric power generation with outstanding environmental performance in natural gas and coal-fired applications. These characteristics are enhanced by the evolutionary development from a technology base with extensive experience, which assures low maintenance and reliable, convenient operation. Our turbines have broad capability on liquid and gaseous fuels, which is also ideal for conversion to IGCC.

  • GE has half a century of reliable combined cycle performance, double that of any other power generation systems manufacturer.
  • Our turbines average 98 percent reliability
  • .
  • Our turbines achieve 96 to 98 percent availability in baseload performance.
  • Customers report maintenance costs as much as 35 percent lower than with non-GE systems.
  • Efficiency approaches 58 percent in some advanced technology plants and will achieve 60 percent with H System combined cycle plants.
  • The design is tailored from the world's broadest line of standardized modules.
  • Engineered equipment packages put plants online much faster.
  • GE gas turbines, steam turbine-generators and controls use state-of-the-art technology.
  • NOx emissions conform to the most stringent site standards.
