GE Meter Schools

GE Energy hosts several meter schools every year for both the fundamentals of metering, as well as electronic metering equipment and software. The schools are held in Durham, New Hampshire at the New England Center for Continuing Education on the University of New Hampshire campus.

The schools are primarily designed for Electric Utility Metering, Engineering, and Management personnel, though Customer Service, Rates, and Billing department personnel often find the information covered useful in helping them better understand the current issues and capabilities of modern metering equipment and techniques.

Topics range from an introduction and review of essential metering fundamentals to complex solid state metering theory and techniques. The Basic meter school agenda for 2008 will focus on the practical application of metering fundamentals - including Demand, Time-Of-Use, and Recorder applications, combining a "hands-on" approach with informative lectures. The Electronic Products meter schools focus on more complex topics, including reactive metering, power definitions, phasor analysis, and the effect of harmonics on metering products. They also focus on the latest GE solid state meters and related software with a "hands-on" approach. Computers and meters are provided for use during the school to reinforce the learning experience. Please review the Preliminary Agenda information for more details.
