Fundamentals of Steam Turbine Operations

What will I learn from this course?

This course provides a foundation in GE Steam Turbine - Generator (STG) Operations for both experienced and beginning operators. We first provide a broad based construction design review of the GE STG product line, from Large (LSTG) to Small (MDT) units. The course then moves onto basic operating sequences, and then onto control and protection functions. The course develops awareness of GE STG operations, which will enable participants to work with others to properly analyze operating problems and plan corrective action. This course will focus on the STG control and protection and will include discussions on all auxiliary support systems. Please refer to the Agenda noted below.

The course consists of classroom lectures and a visit to the Steam Turbine manufacturing and assembly areas at our facility in Schenectady New York, USA.

Who should attend?

Operators, engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel of operating facilities as well those who may work in affiliated industries, who wish to gain an understanding of the day-to-day operation of GE Steam Turbine Generators.

This course is intended for personnel unfamiliar with GE STG's. It should be considered as a "beginner" level course.
