Machinery Diagnostics Courses - Balancing

Balancing Fundamentals

This hands-on course teaches methods of rotor balancing, applying the concepts of synchronous rotor response for both single and multi-plane machines. The course covers both traditional graphical solution methods and the use of balancing software tools (Bently BALANCE™ and Snapshot® Balance, as appropriate).

Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
  • Effectively use amplitude and phase measurements to document balance conditions and perform balancing calculations.
  • Employ fundamental synchronous rotor response to understand and correct imbalance.
  • Use steady state and transient data plots.
  • Obtain hands-on experience balancing single- and multi-plane rotor systems.
  • Examine and review best practices for balancing.
  • Explore the advanced features of Bently BALANCE.
Course Length
  • 3 days
Materials Provided
  • Training manual
  • Lab stations with all hardware
  • Graphic plotting materials
Prerequisite

General knowledge of vibration and process transducer operation, typical measurements and monitoring system. Students attending the course should already understand basic file management, and use of Microsoft® Windows® operating systems.

To maximize the benefit of this course, we also suggest that the student purchases the Data Acquisition CBT and review it prior to attending most of the courses in the Condition Monitoring curriculum.
